My Selenized Bucket List

As some of you may already know, I'm going to the Selena Gomez concert in Salt Lake on Wednesday. I've been super excited for months! A couple weeks ago, I saw a video Selena posted, and she mentioned that some of her crew members go out into the crowd each show and find about 40 people to meet her after the concert. I know that in order to stand out, you need something more creative or different than everybody else, so I decided to make a t-shirt and sign so that if any of her crew read it, they'd maybe choose me to be one of the people to go backstage and meet her.

So once I decided I'd decorate a shirt for the concert, I started brainstorming ideas, and came up with a "Selena Gomez Bucket List." I made the list, bought the shirt on Friday, and started making my shirt! A few of the ones on the list were "Meet Selena Gomez," "Go to Selena's concert," and "Get Selena's autograph." The next couple days, I tried coming up with something clever to go on the back of the shirt, but I wasn't having a lot of luck. I figured I'd just have to write a couple song titles or lyrics or something, which bothered me, since I wanted it to be creative!

Then today, just a few hours ago, I came up with the PERFECT IDEA of what to write on the back of my shirt! I came up with it as I was making a poster that says "READ MY SHIRT," which will hopefully bring more attention to it by Selena and her crew, haha. I thought of lyrics to her song, Hit The Lights: "It's the boy you never told 'I like you,' it's the girl you let get away, it's the one you saw that day on the train but you freaked out and walked away. It's the plane you wanna catch to Vegas, things you swear you'll do before you die, it's the city of love that waits for you, but you're too darn scared to fly." Okay, HOW perfect are those lyrics, and HOW perfect is it that I thought of them!? So here's my shirt, front and back! It's not as perfect as I would've hoped, but I'm still happy with it. It's tough making straight lines with a Sharpie on a t-shirt!

I don't know if it's because I'm in my 20s or because of the Sharpie fumes, but I did feel a little funny making a shirt for a concert in which the majority of the people there will be girls under the age of 16. I don't really care though; I still feel like I'm 16 sometimes. I honestly believe I have a shot to complete all the items on my list on Wednesday, but even if I only get to cross off "Go to Selena's concert," I know I'll still have a great time, and I'll be happy I made the shirt!

Don't ever worry that you're too old to do something like this. I'm 57 and I wish I was going with you.

If Selena is smart, she'll put "Meet Kayli Johnson" on her bucket list...
